Mission-Ready Leadership: Applying the USMC MAGTF to Your Business

Mission-Ready Leadership: Applying the USMC MAGTF to Your Business

From the Battlefield to the Boardroom —
A Proven Framework for Organizational Success

In the United States Marine Corps, the Marine Air-Ground Task Force (MAGTF) is the gold standard of operational integration — a scalable, flexible, and highly disciplined structure designed to meet any mission, anywhere in the world.

The MAGTF isn’t theory. It’s a battle-tested, mission-proven system that balances agility with coordination, and leadership with execution. It’s the reason Marines can deploy at a moment’s notice, execute complex missions under extreme pressure, and still maintain clarity, consistency, and cohesion.

Now, imagine bringing that same level of operational excellence into your organization.

At Convene AIR, we do exactly that.

What is the MAGTF — And Why Should Your Business Care?

The MAGTF is built on four integrated pillars:

  1. Command Element — Leadership and decision-making.
  2. Ground Combat Element — Direct action and execution.
  3. Aviation Combat Element — Speed, agility, and rapid response.
  4. Logistics Combat Element — Sustained support and resource management.

This integrated, flexible structure ensures that every part of the mission is covered — from strategy to support to execution. It fosters:

  • Clear communication
  • Interoperability across teams
  • Standardization of planning and execution
  • Rapid adaptability to changing environments

Just like in combat, businesses today face fast-changing conditions, high stakes, and the need for cohesive, real-time action. The MAGTF model is as applicable in the boardroom as it is on the battlefield.

Matthew Currin: Combat Leader, Training Architect, Business Strategist

Matthew CurrinOur founder, Matthew Currin, didn’t just study the MAGTF framework — he lived it.

As a Marine Corps Weapons and Tactics Instructor (WTI), Matthew led missions in Afghanistan at the outset of Operation Enduring Freedom. He was on the front lines of critical decisions, co-planning the historic Task Force-58 airfield seizure alongside General James Mattis, and later developing the groundbreaking training system for the V-22 Osprey program — one of the most advanced aircraft ever integrated into military operations.

Matthew’s leadership experience is forged in the realities of high-pressure environments where decisions aren’t theoretical — they are life and death. His commitment to standardized training, real-time adaptability, and experiential learning has become the foundation for Convene AIR.

Through his journey — marked by triumphs, challenges, and the deeply personal loss of his friend and crew chief, Clark Beaty, in a training accident — Matthew learned a powerful truth:

Success is never about individual effort alone. It’s about a system — a structure that empowers people, captures experience, and accelerates decision-making.

This truth is at the heart of Convene AIR.
